We work closely with many education establishments to provide work experience for students and the Lift & Engineering Services team also attend careers events. We encourage school leavers and college starters to spend time with us to show them what we can offer as an employer and what they can gain from a career in the lift industry.

Many have stayed with us to become apprentices, trainees and eventually, a fully-fledged member of the team.

Our Joint Managing Director Steve Smith is a long serving non-executive director of the Black Country Skills factory. The Black Country Skills Factory is a Local Enterprise Partnership initiative which builds on the Black Country’s long tradition of engineering and manufacturing excellence and is aimed at addressing skills shortages in five transformational sectors, which are:

  • Advance Manufacturing
  • Transport technologies
  • Construction
  • Environmental Technologies
  • Business Services

As well as his voluntary time on this initiative’s development and governance, Steve has been a “Dragon” for school competitions and student development events.

We are always pleased to hear from colleges local to our branches who have students with excellent prospects who may be of interest to us.
