Working Safely, Without Compromise now to a recognised standard, OHSAS 18001.

By demonstrating our continued commitment to the Health, Safety and Welfare Management for our business activities and personnel, our Occupational Health Safety and Welfare (OH&S) systems were recently aligned to and achieved the OHSAS 18001 standard. A after over a decade of following the principals of the HS(G)65 approach, we felt that this was now the right time to reflect the changing business environment and modern business approach.

Improvements from this re-alignment of our OH&S systems have been undertaken by our Health & Safety Team. This team comprises of our full-time Health, Safety & Training Officer IOSH, AIIRSM and part time Health & Safety Officer and Quality Systems Manager, DipSM, MIIRSM , along with newly elected members of our recently established Health , Safety and Welfare and Environmental committees, selected from all areas and levels of our business; administration, workshop, service and construction, staff, management, supervisors and directors.

To ensure that these committees are effective and add-value to the continues improvement of the safety culture of our business, all members of the committees have received comprehensive training on their duties as representatives of employee safety and all employees have been made aware of their appointment and how to bring up items for discussion/ resolution.

Our robust management of Health, Safety and Welfare is visible, not anecdotal!

Our head office at Cradley Heath, West Midlands is a recognised Training Centre for The British Safety Council (BSC). This means that we have been assessed and adjudged to have the resources to run our own qualifying courses and to conduct BSC examinations. We have also signed up on the LEIA Safety Charter, designed to encourage a culture of

constant vigilance amongst all involved in the lift and escalator industry, which is aided by us having a member of our own in-house safety team active on the LEIA Health & Safety and Environmental committee.
